Two years since disappearance of east woman

Police believe Dawn Basdeo was murdered by her husband, but her body has yet to be found.

The family of a missing Brooklyn woman lit a candle in honour of their mother on Monday.

It has been two years since Dawn Basdeo disappeared from her home, allegedly leaving home for a nearby hospital.

Police believe she was murdered by her husband, but her body has yet to be found.

In her honour her family got together, lit a candle and placed flowers around her photo and said a few words in her memory.

“She enjoyed having a quiet time and tea gardens, so we tried to create a moment we knew she would have loved to have shared with us,” said her daughter Denise Bramdau.

“The past two years have been a long journey, but we continue to fight for justice for her and prepare ourselves as we enter into the next phase of the trial.”

The trail is expected to resume on Monday with Prem Emmanuel Basdeo, being the accused in the matter.

When Dawn went missing, her family led by her husband Prem, opened a missing person’s case at the Brooklyn police station.

Two days later her car was found abandoned in Soweto.

In a turn of events, Prem was arrested and charged with her murder, perjury and defeating the ends of justice.

Police said they found a bloody knife and towel in the house Prem shared with his wife.

The family said it hoped to find Dawn?s body and lay her to rest.
