Covid-19 ‘positive’ east learner now tests negative

“The second test has come back with a negative result.”

A Woodhill College learner, who reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week, has now tested negative.

Rekord earlier reported that the learner of the school tested positive.

Woodhill, however, communicated the below to parents and staff on Wednesday:

“Kindly be advised that the learner recently diagnosed as having contracted Covid-19 has had a second test. The second test has come back with a negative result.

“Furthermore, the members of the learner’s family were also tested with a negative finding.

“We would like to extend our appreciation to all those parents who remained supportive at this time,” the message read.

Meanwhile, the Woodhill country club has allayed residents’ fears that the learner who initially tested positive was a resident.

Learners from the residential estate, who attend the school, have direct access to Woodhill College via an access gate on the estate’s premises.

A Woodhill College parent, who wished to remain anonymous, said although her matric son returned to the school, her grade 6 girl would continue her schoolwork from home.

“My daughter attends video streaming sessions online and thus I feel that there is no need to send her back to school as yet.

“Woodhill College has the necessary safety measures in place to make sure staff members and learners stick to Covid-19 guidelines,” she said.

Curro Holdings, of which Woodhill College is a subsidiary of, has yet to respond for comment at the time of going to press.
