‘Super-Dad’ Gaston Sirino balances football and fatherhood

"My girls are my number one supporters, and I want them to know what hard work can create."

Mamelodi Sundowns superstar and all rounder “Super Dad” Gaston Sirino balances football and fatherhood like a pro.

The father of two makes time for his young family by including them in his football life.

“A lot of times, I bring my girls to Chloorkop (Sundowns headquarters). They use the facilities after hours, and play on the fields. They love it. Melania comes to most home games, she really enjoys it. She has been coming to my games since I was 18. We want to show our girls what their father does,” said the 29-year-old forward.

“My girls are my number one supporters and I want them to know what hard work can create. They should dream big and work hard to achieve.”

Sirino said his father was his biggest inspiration.

“My Father is currently visiting us here in South Africa with my sister and we often recall the great times we all shared growing up in Uruguay. Life was tough growing up, but my father kept me focused and inspired, always telling me to dream bigger,” recalls Sirino.

“I have had many people that helped me and guided my career along the way, and I hope all fathers and men realise that you never know who you may be inspiring, so we should always try do our best and do right by the women in our lives,” he said.

Sirino is expected to be back in action after sport, arts and culture minister Nathi Mthethwa gave the Premier Soccer League (PSL) the green light to kick off.

“The plans of the PSL have been approved, considering the mitigation strategies and plans in relation to the level 3 risk strategy in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Mthethwa.
