Manhunt launched for two suspects after Equestria shooting

Police investigating a case of attempted murder of two people after several bullets were fired on Friday night.

Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects who opened fire on two people in Equestria on Friday night.

Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said the police opened a case of attempted murder after an Equestria resident’s car was shot at several times by two men while the resident and another person were inside the car.

“It is alleged that the victim was coming out of his residence when a silver BMW motor vehicle came at speed and stopped in the middle of the road.

“Two occupants got out of the BMW and shouted to the people in the Mercedes Benz (resident’s car) to get out of the vehicle but they did not and the two suspects in the BMW started firing shots.”

While the two were firing, the victim drove towards the suspects’ car and bumped into it before driving off from the scene, Masondo said.

Police and residents reported that the incident happened at around 19:00 in front of Silver Mist Estate in Libertas Street, Equestria.

“It cannot be confirmed at this stage, whether the motive was also to hijack the victims but that will form part of the investigation,” he said.
