Moot Covid-19 resident discharged from hospital

Funeral arrangements are to be made for an unborn baby boy after a woman was discharged from hospital following Covid-19 battle.

The Kilnerpark resident, who tragically lost her unborn baby when she was admitted to hospital with Covid-19, has been discharged over the weekend.

“It is a miracle she came home,” Marezanne Lennox’s father, Skip Scheepers, told Rekord on Monday morning.

“She is still very weak. Especially in her legs and she still struggles to breathe at times.”

Lennox lost her unborn baby boy while fighting for her life when she tested positive for Covid-19.

She spent nearly a month in hospital after she displayed only mild symptoms at the end of July.

Scheepers said Lennox was only expected to be discharged from hospital only this week, but she was discharged earlier on Saturday.

Lennox was 30 weeks pregnant when she was admitted to hospital earlier in July. She initially did not show severe symptoms of Covid-19, but her health quickly deteriorated and she lost her unborn baby within days.

She was only informed about her baby’s death, eight days after his passing and on the day she underwent surgery to remove her deceased baby.

Last week, Lennox thanked the community for their support via a WhatsApp-voice note while she was still in ICU.

“To each of you who prayed for us and supported us: I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will never know what it meant to us,” Lennox said.

“I hope all of you are doing well. I’m still in ICU at the moment, but it’s going well and everything is looking good. I am now on 30% oxygen. I’m off all the ventilators. Looks like I’ll be moving to a general ward this week. So far everything looks good and only by God’s grace,” she said.

Scheepers said he is grateful his daughter survived the virus and again urged the community to be careful as Lennox’s symptoms started only with a “blocked nose”.

He said although Lennox is still weak, she was very positive about her recovery.

“When she returned home she told me, while she was in hospital, she was very calm because she knew the Holy Spirit was within her.”

Funeral arrangements have yet to be made for Lennox’s baby.
