Scores arrested in weekend operations

Eight people between the ages of 20 and 52 arrested for contravention of the Disaster Management Act by failing to confine themselves to their places of residence.

A total of 47 people were arrested for various crimes in parts of Pretoria and Centurion over the weekend.

On Friday, a high visibility operation was conducted in Olievenhoutbosch.

Eight people between the ages of 20 and 52 were arrested for contravention of the Disaster Management Act by failing to confine themselves to their places of residence, said police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.

“Meanwhile, on Saturday afternoon, two suspects, aged 28 and 33 years, were arrested in the Pretoria CBD for possession of stolen property.

“While crime prevention members were doing patrols around Wierdabrug, they notice a man handing out cigarettes. Upon searching the suspect he was found in possession of illegal cigarettes and he was arrested,” Selepe said.

“Tshwane West Corridor police are committed in maintaining law and order and enforcing the Disaster Management Act by conducting operations that led to the arrest of 47 suspects for various crimes.”
