East cash heist foiled, suspects on the run

The officer was robbed while offloading cash boxes from an armoured vehicle at a filling station in Meiring Naude Street.

Three armed men are on the run after a failed cash heist in Pretoria east.

Police spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili said the officer was robbed while offloading cash boxes from an armoured vehicle at a filling station in Meiring Naude Street in Brooklyn on Monday morning.

“He was accosted by three armed suspects who robbed him of the cash and fled the scene in a red hatchback vehicle. The security officer alerted the driver of the armoured vehicle,” she said.

“The suspects were chased and cornered shortly. When they realised they were cornered, they abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.”
