Police hunt for East business man’s killers

The 45-year-old man was shot and killed at his home in Lynnwood during a house robbery.

Police have launched a manhunt for a group of robbers who allegedly shot and killed a 45-year-old business man during a robbery at his home in Lynnwood on Friday.

Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said the incident took place around 02:00

“It is alleged that at about 02h00, family members of the deceased were in their bedroom when they heard gunshots coming from the entertaiment centre,” he said.

“The son went to check and saw one of the suspects pointing a firearm at his father. The suspects fled the scene.”

The man was certified dead on the scene. Masondo said later, the family discovered that the two laptops and a TV set were stolen.

The value of the stolen goods is yet to be established.

A case of murder and and house robbery has been opened for further investigation.

Police urged anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or help apprehend the suspects to please call the nearest police station or crime stop on 08600 10111.
