Dare to Love continues to serve the community

"We truly believe that the unconditional love that they have experienced through this outreach will multiply in their own lives."

The organisation Dare to Love has carried out one of its main mandates: to take care of the widows, orphans and the fatherless in society. Members of the organisation visited Jabez Children’s Home in Cullinan as part of their #servolution campaign last weekend. The purpose of the outreach was to train the children in the principles of “Gardens for Life” – a simple way of using recyclable items such as old tyres, plastic bags and plastic bottles to establish a vegetable garden system that will be self-sufficient for their entire home. They, along with their four biological children, form the basis of a family platform for two adopted and six long-term foster children. Their aim is to model a forever family, whereby the children know that they always have a family to which they belong and that they will not just get passed around in the system. “We acknowledge that faith, hope and love are words and this is the drive behind our pledge and action campaign of be the #servolution,” said one of the drivers of Dare to Love, Herman Steynberg. “The Garden of Life project is also to train them in building the environment instead of breaking it down by just throwing these recyclables away to land on dumpsites. “We had so much joy in mixing the workload with loads of fun and games to make it an unforgettable day for old and young,” Steynberg said. He said that grace and truth were always foundational pillars of their countless outreaches. We are as excited as they are for their first harvest from these gardens. “We truly believe that the unconditional love that they have experienced through this outreach will multiply in their own lives,” said Steynberg.
