Elderly man shot in Bon Accord house robbery
"The man was shot in his legs and transported to hospital via helicopter."
An elderly couple in the north of Pretoria were attacked in their home on a smallholding on Monday morning.
Four armed men reportedly gained entrance into their house and then shot and wounded the elderly husband.
AfriForum safety coordinator Llewellynn Hemmens said the gunmen stormed the couple’s home around 01:00.
“The man, believed to be in his 70s, was shot in his legs,” Hemmens said.
After the attack, the man was transported to Milpark hospital via helicopter.
“The wife was luckily unharmed. It is unclear how the couple managed to call for help, but we thank Sinoville police and the CPF who swiftly responded to the scene.”
Sinoville CPF chairman Gerhard Duvenage said sector 3 of the policing forum responded to help.
The CPF members tried to trace the tracks of the four suspects but to no avail.
Hemmens said the wounded husband was recovering well.
“His wife is safe with their son and daughter looking after her.”
Police have yet to comment.
