Hercules CPF urges community to donate to help others

“I believe that poor people still got pride, so I’d urge people not to give torn or filthy clothes. Even if it's secondhand clothes, let’s give them decent clothes.”

Hercules Sector 4 CPF is appealing to the public to donate clothes, food, blankets and other essentials to families in Kameeldrift West.

CPF Sector 4 project leader, Edna van Vuurner said they are planning to donate to at least 15 households which consist of about 36 people.

Van Vuurner said she has not received a lot of donations at the moment and still appeals to the community to continue donating.

“I have not received a lot of donations as yet, I got a very big donation of about six blankets and six duvets. I am still going to need more, so I will try and run it until the end of July or maybe the first week into August.”

Van Vuurner said they would like to appeal to the community to donate dignified clothes.

“I believe that poor people still got pride, so I’d urge people not to give torn or filthy clothes. Even if it’s secondhand clothes, let’s give them decent clothes.”

Van Vuurner said they are also collecting books for their visit to an old age home in the area at the end of August.

“We just want to visit the old people, give them books, give them biscuits and drink some coffee with them. A lot of them are lonely as they get dumped there and forgotten by their kids.”
