“Within 24 hours of receiving and verifying the information our TMPD Land Invasion Unit together with our service providers responded accordingly and demolished the illegal structures in both locations.”

Williams said there were about 20 illegal structures that were incomplete.

“Some were shacks and others were brick structures. I would like to commend our teams for speedily responding to these incidents of attempted land invasions. This speaks to our zero-tolerance approach to land invasions in Tshwane.”

He said the establishment of the multi-disciplinary Anti-Land Invasion task team will play a critical role in protecting property rights and rooting out land invaders in Tshwane.

“In addition to the multi-disciplinary team, the City also has active patrols and monitoring in place to prevent land and building invasions across all seven regions of Tshwane.

“The City would also like to encourage private landowners to take preventative steps to protect their properties, these include fencing and putting up no-trespassing signs.”
