Family searches for missing taxi driver
We have searched everywhere for my brother with no luck.”
A Mamelodi family has asked the public for their help in finding their brother who has been missing since last week Monday.
Ffezile Sipho Phiri (30) of Mamelodi East ext 12, who is also a small business taxi driver, went missing on July 19.
Police spokesperson Constable Lethabo Mashiloane confirmed they were investigating a missing person’s case opened by Madisha’s older sister Nqobile.
His sister reported him missing the following day after she last saw her brother in the evening on his way to collect staff members knocking off at 18:00.
However, he never returned home.
Ffezile was last seen wearing a navy-blue tracksuit with white and red stripes, a green body warmer and brown Timberlands.
“The family noticed the following day that he never returned home because the car was nowhere to be found and they tried calling but his cellphone was off,” said Mashiloane.
Mashiloane said they have already started tracing his car and pleaded with the public to be on the lookout for his Blue Mazda 323 with the registration HZ 78 HR GP.
Nqobile said this was the first time her brother went missing.

“We immediately searched for him everywhere at his friends and his colleagues because it’s unlike him not to start a day without greeting us,” said Nqobile.
“It is unlike my brother to go missing for days without telling us about his whereabouts.
“We asked other taxi drivers, friends and neighbours about my brother but they said they have not seen him,” she said.
“We have searched everywhere. We went to the hospitals, around town and the government mortuary and police stations.”
Police appealed to the public to assist with any information that could lead to his whereabouts.
Anyone with information may contact Mamelodi East SAPS investigating officer detective Constable Phalamasweu on 012 815 7079 or contact Nqobile on 076 900 5030.
