Courier robbery foiled in Centurion, one arrested
"No injuries were reported, and because of the valiant efforts of the courier driver and officer, the robbers were stopped in their tracks."

One person was arrested following a foiled robbery of a courier van in Valhalla on Wednesday afternoon.
Monitor Net spokesperson JP le Roux said one of their officers was doing a routine visibility patrol in Valhalla when he came upon a courier robbery in progress.
“The officer acted immediately and managed to assist the driver of the courier vehicle who was fighting with the assailants,” he said.
Le Roux said one suspect was arrested while two others managed to escape in a getaway vehicle.
“The officer recovered one knife and an illegal firearm.”
No injuries were reported, and because of the valiant efforts of the courier driver and officer, the robbers were stopped in their tracks,” Le Roux added.
He said that the suspect was handed over to the Wierdabrug police station.
Le Roux said he was particularly concerned over the rise of armed robberies and house robberies in Centurion.
“Armed robberies have picked up in the past few weeks. We’ve attended several incidents where motorists have been robbed either in their homes or driveway.
We are again pleading with the community to be careful and vigilant; if you are working from home, always ensure you have the police and security officers’ numbers on speed dial.”
