Mobile Covid-19 vaccine available in Pretoria now

"It is specifically intended to serve those who choose not to go to a potentially crowded vaccination centre and to those citizens who are bedridden or homebound."

Best Care emergency medical service identified the need for a mobile vaccination unit in its operating areas.

Best Care will be joined by Pharma Valu to render this service.

Spokesperson of Best Care, Xander Loubser said the service which was launched on Tuesday, was specifically intended to serve those who chose not to go to a potentially crowded vaccination centre.

“The service tends to also assist those citizens who are bedridden or homebound,” he said.

Loubser said that they would administer the Johnson & Johnson as well as the Pfizer vaccines.

“With the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, only one injection is required where as two injections for the Pfizer vaccine are required 40 days apart.

“Those who make use of the mobile unit, should confirm which vaccine they prefer before the session to ensure availability.

“The service and vaccine choice are dependent on stock availability,” he said.

The vaccinator will inform those who register of the type of vaccine they are receiving before administering the vaccine.

“The vaccine is still for free. Our service will be available for seven days a week,” said Loubser.
