Hercules CPF recognises police for unwavering service

"Not a single night passed where we did not see so much appreciation from the members."

The Hercules CPF has come up with a novel idea to say thank you to the Tshwane West task force for risking their lives in protecting the community every day.

“For the past 32 days, every evening a hot plate of food, tea and coffee, water, soft drinks and a snack has been provided to about 100 members of the police, the army as well as metro police,” said local CPF chairperson Johan van Staden.

The initiative came in the wake of the major riots that hit the country in July where the SAPS drew several task forces closer to protect the community and businesses.

“Not a single night passed where we did not see so much appreciation from the members. They were looking forward to a wonderful treat in the evenings.

“The members leave their loved ones behind to serve the community and it does not go unnoticed,” said Van Staden.

“On behalf of the Hercules CPF, we would like to thank first of all the police’s task forces for their sacrifices, but also the community who carried out this project to make it a huge success at the end of the day.

“The police are risking their lives to ensure the safety of the community.”

When there was leftover food, the CPF went to hand it out to the members of the Hercules police.

The meals were distributed between central points.

“The project is coming to an end on Friday evening where the people involved intend to make it a very special affair. The police are working their last night shift tomorrow and that is why we want to make this evening extra special.

“We as members each wrote letters to the members with words of hope and motivation that we will hand out during the event,” said Van Staden.
