One dead in Centurion crash, several injured
16 other people were also injured in an accident on Saturday morning.
A woman died and several others were left with serious to critical injuries following a collision on the R55 in Centurion on Saturday morning.
“Multiple emergency services arrived on the scene to find absolute carnage as the injured lay in the roadway,” said Emer-G-Med paramedics in a statement.
“The twisted frame of a light delivery vehicle was found on its roof, whilst a light motor vehicle was found against a nearby wall.”
The statement said the light delivery vehicle, which had passengers, overturned.
The occupants of the light delivery vehicle were ejected from the vehicle.
“A woman, about forty years of age, was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on arrival by paramedics.”
“Sixteen other people suffered injuries ranging from serious to critical and the assistance of the Halo aeromedical helicopter was called for and a person was airlifted to a nearby hospital for immediate care.
“The remaining persons were transported by various private ambulance services to nearby hospitals.”
The statement said the cause of the collision was subject to police investigation.
