Teams from Sutherland High School’s Drama Club recently won this year’s Gauteng Regional Amateur Dramatics Series (GRADS).
“Due to the pandemic this annual festival was transformed into a virtual competition with learners being required to video monologues in the categories of drama or comedy,” said the school’s public relations officer, Heidi Cook.
“The competition attracted entries from schools in all four corners of Gauteng with a total of 80 monologues entered.”
She said after a gruelling audition process, 18 outstanding actors entered monologues coupled with seven experienced directors and a crew of five technical experts.
“The diversity of talent shown by the learners proved to be top class with many scripts being written by the learners themselves.
