Cameras in Valhalla area will help fight crime – AfriForum

"It will be of great help to keep an eye on criminals who use this route."

AfriForum’s Centurion branch recently set up two security cameras at strategic locations in Valhalla to help fight crime.

“We have received several complaints about crime in the area,” said JP Nel, AfriForum’s district co-ordinator for greater Pretoria south.

“Criminals have often used this area as an escape route.”

He said the organisation has already cleared and deforested the spot in question.

A camera was set up at the canal to monitor movement and identify people guilty of illegal dumping.

“The second camera was set up in a crime-ridden area,” said Nel.

“It will be of great help to keep an eye on criminals who use this route.”

He added that it is important that the community works with role-players in fighting crime.

“We can achieve so much more if we work together. AfriForum’s Centurion branch has several other projects in the pipeline to contribute to the community’s safety.”

Nel invited the community to become more involved with the branch and neighbourhood watch.

“Together we can make a difference,” he said.
