Mayor conducts service delivery checks in north townships
"The oversight visit was also an opportunity to identify service delivery gaps and see for myself the quality of service delivery that is being provided to our residents."
Tshwane mayor Randall Williams conducted a service delivery oversight visit in Temba, Hammanskraal and Soshanguve to monitor progress made in the metro’s projects around the townships on Monday.
The mayor was accompanied by MMCs Dikeledi Selowa, Dana Wannenburg, Sylvester Phokoje, Tshwane regional officials and ward councillors.
Williams said he was pleased to see work being done on the ground with Tshwane teams repairing streetlights, roads and addressing water leaks.

“The oversight visit was also an opportunity to identify service delivery gaps and see for myself the quality of service delivery that is being provided to our residents.
“It’s important that as an administration we keep in touch with our residents and the reality on the ground.”
Williams also inspected the upgrades at the Soshanguve sub-station.

“The sub-station was constructed with a 132/11kV and 132/33kV electrical topology to supply the majority of customers within the Soshanguve area.
“However, the area has been experiencing development expansions which have placed a strain on the existing bulk electrical network.
“This called for the sub-station upgrades which are currently underway and progressing well.”
He said the substation upgrade project started in July 2019, and was expected to be completed in July next year.

“So far, the city has spent over R70-million on the project and a further R25-million has been budgeted for in the current 2021/22 financial year.
“I will be conducting continuous oversight visits in all regions of the city to ensure services are delivered to our residents.”
