Vaccination sites a haven for criminals as vehicle-related crimes spike, again
Both theft of and from motor vehicles were on the rise in the Pretoria North policing precinct.

Vaccination sites in the Pretoria North policing precinct had reportedly become a haven for criminals who committed vehicle-related crimes, police said.
“These criminals are targeting mostly the vaccination areas,” police spokesperson Sergeant Tsakani Miyen said.

This, she said, was as vehicle-related crimes such as theft of and from motor vehicles were once again on the rise in the policing precinct.
“Theft of motor vehicles is once again escalating,” Miyen said, adding that targeted vehicles included the Fiat Uno and Nissan NP200.
“Motorists driving these vehicles should be vigilant.”
With theft from motor vehicles, Miyen said there was a particular focus on both Volkswagen Polo and GTI models.
“Criminals steal the headlights from these vehicles using crowbars,” she said.
Miyen said that the crime was quick for them to execute.
“It is estimated that it takes them only a minute to remove these headlights,” she said.
