Olievenhoutbosch police VFR receives generous donation

"Victims of domestic violence include children who will be in police care at that moment.”

The Victim Friendly Room (VFR) at Olievenhoutbosch police station received a generous donation this week.

“Bags of hope were donated by SA home loans who delivered about 50 bags full of toiletries for victims of gender-based violence and domestic violence,” said Olievenhoutbosch police station spokesperson Sergeant Pretty Mokadi.

“Often women go to the police station with nothing but the clothes on their backs. In cases of need, these goody bags come in handy to assist the victims. Victims of domestic violence include children who will be in police care at that moment.

“Each bag includes a message on paper of encouragement and toiletries like toothpaste, face cloths, bath soap and a lot more.”

Mokadi said station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Gert Adolf Corbett welcomed the gift bags.

“He reassured the community that victim empowerment is very vital in our organisation. And it is a priority considering the hardships most women and children endure daily.”
