Three-day planned water outage to affect several Tshwane suburbs

Tshwane metro warned that the three-day water outage will start from Tuesday until Thursday to enable Rand Water to conduct maintenance and repairs.

A three-day planned water outage will leave several areas in Tshwane without water.

The Tshwane metro has issued the warning of a three-day planned water outage.

Initially, the outage was scheduled for Monday, August 23, however, it has since been postponed to start on Tuesday, August 31 until Thursday, September 2.

Spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the outage was due to maintenance work and repairs of important water pipes with leakages and would be conducted by Rand Water.

He urged residents and the business sector to note that the outage would begin at 09:00 on Tuesday, and end at 01:00 on Thursday, adding that “the magnitude of the work compels the water supply to be shut down for 40 hours, thus a possible interruption is inevitable”.

“The metro will ensure that all reservoirs in the affected areas are filled to capacity before the shutdown. Tankers to supply residents in the affected areas with water will also be arranged.”

Mashigo said a schedule of where the water tankers would be stationed would be provided before the shutdown.

“The metro would like to apologise in advance for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of the mentioned repairs.”
