Centurion singer talks about her new upcoming TV programme

Cordelia describes her adoptive parents as her pillar of strength and inspiration.

Local Afrikaans songbird Cordelia Nienaber is working on a new TV progamme which she believes will give hope to many children.

Speaking to Rekord, the 35-year-old Centurion singer said music had given her a platform to give back and touch people’s lives.

“I believe God’s plan for me is to touch people’s lives and give hope to children. That’s why I’m getting involved in helping communities,” she said.

Cordelia, as she is known, described her adoptive parents as her pillar of strength and inspiration.

“I was adopted when I was only six months old and grew up in a small town called Fochville. My love for singing started at the age of four through my father who’s a guitarist and songwriter. He is the reason I pursued a music career a decade ago,” she said.

When she’s not performing, Cordelia spends her time uplifting women and teenage girls in camps.

After she completed her matric, Cordelia worked at the Blyvoor pre-primary school as a grade R teacher. She says that’s where her love for children began.

“I am currently involved in numerous projects, which includes my own TV programme which I started. I can’t say too much about it but it’s a children’s TV programme that will help develop the young ones,” said the mother of one.

She has been in the music industry for more than 10 years and has performed with the likes of Kurt Darren, Juanita du Plessis, Snotkop, Ray Dylan, Jo Black, and many more.

The “Wees Lief” hitmaker said young musicians who wanted to break into the music industry should work hard and believe in themselves.

“If you can dream it, then you can achieve it. I honestly believe you will get what you want in life if you help others people pursue their dreams as well.”

She plans to release new music soon which would be followed by an album at a later stage.

“On what the future holds for Cordelia, I am not sure but I trust that my future is in God’s hands. I am excited to see what he has in store for me,” she said.
