Home invader shot after trying to gain access to Moot house

"It is believed that there was a struggle between the owner of the premises and the man. According to the owner he shot the suspect in self-defense."

A home invader from Waverley in the Moot was shot after he tried to gain access to a house in Dickenson Avenue on Sunday evening.

According to Kilnerpark Security spokesperson, Ancelize van der Kooi, their response officers were dispatched to the scene at 18:14.

“It is believed that there was a struggle between the owner of the premises and the man when he and his accomplice tried to gain access to his house.

“According to the owner, he shot the home invader in self-defence.

“The owner claims that the same two men tried to rob the same premises the night before,” Van der Kooi said.

Villieria police spokesperson Marinda Austin confirmed the shooting incident.

“One of the men was arrested at the scene and the wounded was transported to Steve Biko academic hospital by Netcare911,” she said.
