"Most of the suspects who were arrested this past week were charged with dealing in drugs and assault with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm."

Rietgat police nabbed 30 people who committed various crimes across their policing precinct this past week.

Spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said most of the people arrested were charged with dealing in drugs and assault with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“Some suspects were arrested for malicious damage to property; common assault; reckless and negligent driving; theft; common robbery; burglary at business premises; contravention of protection order, possession of drugs and business robbery.”

Rietgat station commander Colonel Stephina Nkosi said the community should continue working closely with the police and report all criminal activities.

Nkosi also encouraged women to report gender-based violence (GBV) as and when it happens.

“Do not wait for the situation to get worse before you report GBV. Stop thinking that he will change. If he beats you up report him right away.”

Nkosi also expressed her gratitude to all the neighbours and community members who share valuable information with the police.
