Entire Tshwane now under stage 1 water restrictions
Rand Water had initially placed Tshwane’s Region 1, 3 and 4 areas on stage 3 water restrictions following a drop in its reservoir water levels.
Water utility Rand Water has now implemented stage 1 water restrictions in all areas of Tshwane.
The water utility had initially placed Tshwane regions 1, 3 and 4 areas on stage 3 water restrictions, following a drop in its reservoir water levels.
On Thursday, the Tshwane metro announced that the city-wide stage 1 restrictions were implemented with immediate effect.
“Restricting water to the abovementioned parts of Tshwane was inevitable and the only viable option to save the distribution network from collapsing,” Tshwane metro said in a statement.
The metro has pleaded with residents to reduce their water consumption.

Residents are reminded of the following specific water restrictions:
– Do not water or irrigate gardens with a hosepipe or sprinkler system between 06:00 and 18:00.
– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes or high-pressure systems.
– Do not fill swimming pools.
