Foundation donates various items to Soshanguve orphanage

Gershom Foundation donated various items to Luvuyo Orphanage Home in block H, Soshanguve and Faith & Power Ministries in block TT, Soshanguve last week Friday.
Founder, Boipelo Mokgotsi said they started by donating food, clothes and beverages to Luvoyo Orphanage before going to the blind people gathered at Faith & Power Ministries.
“We had a fun day with the children before we went to Faith & Power Ministries. We used the church as our venue to host the event and to give to the blind. We donated food parcels, clothes and toiletries.”

Mokgotsi said growing up in poverty motivated her to feed and clothe disadvantaged people.
“I had to fend for myself from a very young age and decided to find a way to prevent it from happening to upcoming generations.
“I have been doing charity work in the North West for five years and this year I chose to bring it home. I grew up in Soshanguve and thought I should impact the community I grew up in.”
She said the reason they chose Luvoyo Orphanage Home was because of the love and care they saw the home gave to the children.
Mokgotsi said the children in the home came from different backgrounds, mostly with painful upbringings.
“We felt the need to extend a helping hand. The children need love as some of them were separated from their parents due to messy divorces and were brought to the home for safety and mental well-being.

“Some came to the home because they were abused by their families, some were found abandoned as infants and grew up without knowing their parents.”
Mokgotsi believes the donations will contribute towards alleviating food struggles as well as keeping the individuals who benefited clothed for the coming seasons.

The supervisor of the care workers at Luvoyo Orphanage Home, Nozipho Bhila, said they are happy about the donations and that it was a great help to them as donations to the orphanage became scarce.

“It is difficult for people to donate because of the lockdown regulations. We really appreciate everything they gave to us. These donations will help us a lot. The children are also very happy about the donations.”
