DJ Dinho helps feed 100 families
“The identified households will also be linked with skills development institutions with the aim that at the end (of the programme) they will receive formal job placements.”
A local DJ has vowed to donate food parcels to 100 families for three months.
Tiego Motau, also known as DJ Dinho, has first donated food parcels to 100 beneficiaries during the celebration of Mandela Day and made the promise to donate again in August and September.
The official handover of food parcels was held at Jack Budha in Mamelodi West on Sunday.
Dinho Mandela Day spokesperson Mongezi Thabethe said the donation of food parcels is part of a food relief programme.
“The identified households will be linked with skills development institutions with the aim that at the end of the programme they will receive formal job placements. Or they will be linked to funding institutions if they decide to venture into business,” said Thabethe.

The aim of donating food parcels is to reduce hunger in families by providing nutritious meals.
Dinho believes that one should rise by lifting others, as Covid-19 has had a serious strain on the marginalised and disenfranchised.
“Government is not a panacea for all; therefore, it is paramount to have civil society and patriotic citizens giving back to the community so that poverty can be pushed back,” he said.
“Hunger has no vaccine. No household should go hungry.
“All the work that is done now is a build-up to the DJ’s initiative in December of #No black Christmas for our people.”

The donations are part of giving back to the fans and the community of Mamelodi for supporting DJ Dinho events.
“The 100 families which were selected received maize meals, rice, tin food, soya beans, tea bags, sugar, cooking oil, detergents and veggies,” said Thabethe.
The beneficiaries were visited and interviewed before they could qualify for the food parcels.
Thabethe said unemployed families were their first priority, families with a combined monthly salary of less than R3 600 and child-headed families, whereby parents or breadwinners are deceased.
“Families with more than five members received two food parcels and if it has more than 10 family members the family will receive three food parcels,” said Thabethe.
He encouraged beneficiaries to be the key change agents by linking them with Entokozweni Resources Centre-Miag Skills Development programme and Job Centre.
