Manhunt launched after man was mysteriously gunned down, killed
A white Toyota Avanza, with no registration plates, was used as the getaway vehicle.
Akasia police have launched a manhunt for four unknown suspects after a man was shot and killed in The Orchards on Sunday evening.
“The deceased and a few others had gathered when a white Toyota Avanza, with no registration plates, stopped and three of its occupants got out of the vehicle. They went straight to the deceased and started shooting. The deceased was declared dead at the scene,” police spokesperson Constable Lindiwe Mdluli said.
While she could not yet release the deceased’s name, he was confirmed to be Lucky Matlala by a family member.
“We are appealing to anyone who could help us track the suspects down or who knows the motive behind the horrific incident to come forward,” Mdluli said.

She further said it was still unclear why Matlala and the others were gathered outside a house along Koos Prinsloo Street, a short distance away from a petrol station.
“The investigation is still pending, but we need anyone with information to help us track down these criminals who are terrorising the community,” Mdluli said.
A murder docket was opened for investigation.
