TMPD officer robbed of firearm in spike robbery
“It is unfortunate that one of our members fell victim to such criminality.”
A Tshwane metro officer was robbed of her firearm when her vehicle was spiked in the east of Pretoria on Friday morning.
The Tshwane metro police department spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the incident occurred around 06:00.
He said a TMPD member was on her way home after working the night shift.
“She got a tyre puncture as she was driving and approaching Rethabiseng along the R513 Road.
“She stopped and went to check the damage. She was approached by two males who robbed her of her firearm, took all her belongings from the vehicle and left.”
Mahamba said the officer was not physically harmed during the ordeal.
“The TMPD condemns such criminality on our members.”
He said the TMPD had been working very hard to combat these spiking incidents, and was continuously monitoring all known and potential hotspots..

“It is unfortunate that one of our members fell victim to such criminality.
“We appeal to members of the public who might have any information regarding this new trend of criminality to assist the TMPD by anonymously providing any information that may aid in arresting these criminals.”
