Cables stolen in Rosslyn
Nkwe Estates and Rosslyn Gardens were affected by the recent cable theft plunging the area into darkness at the weekend.

Residents in the north of Pretoria were left in the dark on Saturday when six power cables were stolen in the Rosslyn area.
Nkwe Estates and Rosslyn Gardens were affected by the power outage after six medium voltage cables were stolen, reported Tshwane metro in a statement.
On Sunday morning the metro’s technical team were on the scene to evaluate the damage.
At the same time of the outage in Rosslyn, residents in Montana complained of a power interruption in the residential area.
The metro confirmed this was not due to more cable thefts, but a “trip” at one of the area’s substations.
“Doornpoort 11kV substation, panel number 10, tripped and it’s affecting Sinoville ext 2 and 4 as well as Montana AH areas,” the metro wrote on its official Facebook page.
Meanwhile social media users voiced their thoughts on the recent cable theft, asking that perpetrators get harsher sentences.
Tiboz Tman: “Cable thieves must get life imprisonment. Most senior citizens are on life support or oxygen machines that requires stable electricity because of Covid-19.”
Buti Moloi: “Who are the buyers of cables… the government must make it illegal to be in possession of the cable or sale thereof.”
Lincoln Mahlobogoane: “No one can dig this deep and cut cable without people noticing. We are just ignorant of our surroundings, people do this in front of us and we’re not reporting or questioning anything.”
Tshwane metro urged residents to report cable thefts or “suspicious behaviour and digging” to 012 358 7095/6.
