Gadget stores become criminals’ latest target
According to police, the criminals which targeted these stores operated in a group of four.
Gadget stores in the Pretoria North policing precinct were now the latest targets of criminals operating in the area, police said.
The perpetrators were targeting cellphone and laptop shops, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Tsakani Miyen, just days after business robberies in the policing precinct were said to be on the rise.
“There’s been a drastic increase since last month,” she said.

Miyen said they noted the criminals targeting these stores also stole money while committing the robberies.
“They steal laptops, phones and money,” she said.
The criminals were said to operate in a group of four.
“From what we gathered, there are three men and one lady,” Miyen said.
This was the third time she sounded the alarm over an increase in business robberies.
She advised community members to always ensure they reported any criminal activities which occurred in their presence and to engage with their local CPF.
“The community must have a relationship with the police as we are not their enemies, instead, we are here to serve them,” she said.
The first increase in the crime was recorded in July.
At the time, the increase in business robberies was attributed to curfew hours which had been adjusted a week earlier.
