Cops make headway in ongoing probes
“It’s through these operations and the work of our forensic department that we are able to obtain fingerprints from crime scenes then link suspects to these prints when they are arrested."

Akasia police made headway in ongoing investigations when suspects, which were reportedly linked to a variety of crimes, were arrested during a “major” operation in the policing precinct last week.
“There are a lot of people that were linked to some of the crimes that were committed,” spokesperson Constable Lindiwe Mdluli said.
She, however, could not divulge the number of suspects which were arrested.
Mdluli further said the breakthrough showed that their operations were yielding successes.
“It’s through these operations and the work of our forensic department that we are able to obtain fingerprints from crime scenes then link suspects to these prints when they are arrested,” she said.
The linkage of the undisclosed number of suspects comes weeks after the station was listed among 30 others nationwide where serious crimes where most prevalent.
These crimes included trio crimes – robbery with aggravating circumstances – and truck hijackings.

Last month, the station was ranked 20th where the most trio crimes were reported between April and June and number two in the Gauteng province where truck hijackings were most prevalent.
The station was also ranked 22nd, 12th, 18th and 11th where assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, burglary at residential premises, other serious crime and common robbery, respectively, were most prevalent in the province.
