Covid-19: Steady decline in Tshwane daily new infections
On Sunday, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported that South Africa officially exited the third high resurgence of Covid-19 as provinces across the country recorded low daily infections.

As the country exited the third highest resurgence of coronavirus infections, the Tshwane region continues to record low daily infections.
On Sunday, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported that South Africa officially exited the third high resurgence of Covid-19 as provinces across the country recorded low daily infections.
“The national seven-day moving average of daily case numbers, positivity rate and testing rate continue to decrease, with sustained decreases seen in all provinces,” the NICD said in a statement.
The sustained decrease across the country continues to be mirrored in the Tshwane metro region.
This week active infections in the region dropped to 781 from 1 151 the previous week on Sunday, representing a decrease of 370 infections.
Tshwane mayor Randall Williams in a statement on Monday urged residents to get vaccinated while the infections continued to plummet.
Williams said new confirmed daily cases were also steadily decreasing and remained below the 150.
“While we have made good progress in decreasing active Covid-19 cases, it is important that we remain vigilant and play our part to create herd immunity by vaccinating,” he said.
“The city has 50 public vaccination sites spread across all seven regions of Tshwane to enable easy access for all our residents. Once again it is important that we get many more people vaccinated to protect our families, friends and communities.”
As of Sunday, Tshwane recorded an overall of 254 497 infections, 5 660 Covid-19 related deaths and 248 056 recoveries.
Gauteng health Tshwane Covid-19 stats:
– Wednesday, September 22: 123 new infections
– Thursday, September 23: 128 new cases
– Friday, September 24: 89 new cases
– Saturday, September 25: 97 new cases
– Sunday, September 26: 27 new cases
