“We had an argument about money and drinking.”
The man accused of stabbing Eersterust resident, Evelyn de Kock (43) to death, pleaded guilty to the murder at the North Gauteng High Court on Wednesday, 20 October.
Clayton Andrews (51) killed De Kock in cold blood at their outside building in Robert Jones Avenue in Eersterust on the evening of June 13, 2020.
According to Andrews, he and his partner (De Kock) had an altercation at around 21:00.

“She was swearing at me and grabbed my shirt. I went to the kitchen to get a knife and went back to the bedroom.”
He said he couldn’t recall how many times he stabbed her in the neck.
“I did not set out to kill her and had no reason to stab her. I know what I did was wrong.”
The following day at 05:00, Andrews saw she was dead. Thereafter, he changed his clothes, left the knife on the bed and took a taxi to Johannesburg.
He was later found by the police where he was hiding out in Eldorado Park and taken into custody.
De Kock’s two children, aged 13 and 25, did not attend the court case.
“Even though he pleaded guilty, it will never bring back my daughter,” said De Kock’s mother, Grace Ngwatla.

De Kock’s sister, Charlotte Peters, said that her body physically hurts, thinking about what they went through the past year and a half.
“We are heartbroken,” she said.

“If Andrews spoke the truth from the beginning, it would have spared us all the sadness we experienced.”
Andrews will remain in custody as Judge Moeder Leso postponed the case until Friday, October 22 for sentencing.

Today’s proceedings were attended by De Kock’s mother, her sister Peters, her brother-in-law, Charles Willemse and other close friends.
Patriotic Alliance spokesperson for Tshwane, Virginia Keppler, also attended.
