Boschkop ex-convict sentenced to 18 years

The Detectives Team of Sergeant Mashishi, Sergeant Mashimbye and Sergeant Matla worked tirelessly to secure a successful conviction for the suspect.

Boschkop police have welcomed the sentencing of 50-year-old Derick Tibane.

Tibane was sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment by the Pretoria regional court this week, said Boschkop police spokesperson Sergeant Yeroboam Mbatsane.

“A year ago, Tibane broke into a house in Zwavelpoort plot in Boschkop, east of Pretoria. He then approached a domestic worker in the house and stabbed her with a knife before stealing house items valued at R12 000.”

In January this year, a private security company arrested Tibane after he was found in possession of suspected stolen properties, Mbatsane said.

It was later discovered that the suspect have just broken into a storeroom in Zwavelpoort and stolen items.

Tibane was apprehended and handed over to Boschkop SAPS.

Investigations by the Boschkop team of detectives positively linked Tibane with the 2018 house robbery.

“The victim identified him and he was charged and taken to court. The detectives further found that Tibane was a convicted murderer in Limpopo and that he had absconded his parole conditions,” Mbatsane said.

The detectives team of Sergeant Mashishi, Sergeant Mashimbye and Sergeant Matla worked tirelessly to secure a successful conviction for the suspect.

Boschkop station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Abakona Sithole applauded the team of detectives for a job well done.

Sithole said the sentence will send a strong message to criminals.
