Cops talk with second-hand goods dealers
Second-hand goods dealers were also given an opportunity to share of the crime-related incidents they had experienced and fallen victim to at their businesses.

Management at the Pretoria North police station and second-hand goods dealers recently met to discuss some of the challenges the dealers faced.
“The purpose of the meeting was to address all the crimes that have been reported as well as the crimes which could possibly occur in the future,” police spokesperson Sergeant Tsakani Miyen said.
The second-hand goods dealers were also given an opportunity to share of the crime-related incidents they had experienced and fallen victim to at their businesses.
“Police also advised the dealers to either report in the existing WhatsApp group or go to the police station if they suspected that the items which were sold to them were stolen,” Miyen said.

The traders were also advised to demand a form of identification when they bought goods from members of the community.
“All stakeholders who were in attendance also agreed to enhancing communication between themselves and the police as once of the measures which could curb crime in the area,” she said.
She added that the dealers should play an active role in addressing issues related to crime in the Pretoria North policing precinct.
Another meeting was expected to be held next month where both the police and the second-hand goods dealers would provide feedback.
