According to Tshwane mayor’s spokesperson Sipho Stuurman, the metro has seen contraction of over 11 000 in the number of active Covid-19 cases.
The most recent Covid-19 report showed that active cases have gone down to 14 275 as of Sunday, December 19, 2021.
Last week Sunday, the number of active cases stood at 25 285.

Stuurman said the decrease in active Covid-19 cases was good news for our Tshwane residents and could possibly signal the turning point in the fight against the fourth wave.
“Nonetheless, we need to remain vigilant and adhere to all Covid-19 safety protocols such as social distancing, wearing masks and sanitising regularly over the festive season,” he said.
“I want to encourage all persons aged 12 years and older to get vaccinated. Our public vaccination sites are spread across Tshwane with teams ready to assist.
“Vaccines provide the best defence against Covid-19 and are critical in preventing mass hospitalisation.”
