Cable thief stopped in his tracks
The man dropped the cables and tried to flee but was caught.
An alleged cable thief was arrested in Brooklyn on Wednesday morning.
CSI security spokesperson Dana Bloem said officers received communication on Telegram calling for backup at 04:00 after the man was spotted on Camron and Justice Mohammed streets.
“Our CSI tactical teams came in from Brooklyn’s side from a northerly direction and spotted the suspect as he dropped the cables while fleeing,” he said.
“Both CSI tactical teams managed to detain the suspect on the corner of Roper street and Justice Mahommed.”

Bloem said the suspect matched the profile of a suspect who broke into a property in Mckenzie Street on the same day.
“There was an attempted break-in at another property in Mckenzie Street, where the burglar bars on the windows were bent,” he said.
“After investigation it was found that nothing was stolen, although the other cables were found and recovered from the premises.”
Bloem said the man was handed over to the Brooklyn police.
