Pet Community Outreach sterilises 60 dogs on farm

The service was done free of charge as the owner was unable to afford it.

To eliminate the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduce the incidence of breast cancer in pets, the Pet Community Outreach recently sterilised 60 out of 120 dogs on a farm.

The service was done free of charge as the owner was unable to afford the costs. This was in line with the Pet Community Outreach’s vision to assist pet owners who cannot afford a private veterinarian’s services to vaccinate and sterilise their pets.

The non-profit was established in 2019 by like-minded people who wanted to educate pet parents and their children about the primary health care of pets.

Forty-seven pets were treated and sterilised during their latest outreach on June 30.

Pet Community Outreach director Lori-Kay Erasmus said 15 of the pets that were treated were from a different organisation and were transported via one of their sponsors.

They assisted three dog rescue NGOs and five foster ferals.

“We are still planning on having 11 more outreaches this year; however, without sponsors, donors and partners we will not be able to achieve this goal.”
