R5.6-billion secured to create 700 jobs in Centurion
Spokesperson says 14 projects were implemented by the Tshwane Economic Development Agency for job creation.
The Tshwane Economic Development Agency has secured R5.6-billion to create 700 new jobs in Centurion.
Agency spokesperson Paseka Rakosa said the multi-billion rand investment was secured in the current financial year.
A total of 14 projects are currently in the works to the value of R2.2 billion.
Rakosa said the agency continues to embark on investment promotion campaigns and worked with various stakeholders including the provincial and national agencies to attract investment.
“Recently, we took 15 Tshwane-based companies on an outbound mission to Nigeria to exhibit their products and services to access new markets on the continent,” he said.
Rakosa added that an estimated 60 Tshwane-based companies were helped to optimise their products for the export market.
“This is achieved by taking companies through a capacity-building programme to prepare them for the export market.
“At least R102-million were generated from export against a target of R10-million in export sales,” he added.
“The target for investment attraction for the year was R1.8-billion and the agency managed to attract R3.4-billion.
“This exceeded the annual target by R1.6-billion.
“Further to this, the agency has attracted investments to the value of R2.2-billion into the pipeline.
“This R3.4-billion project will be located in Centurion region 4 and will create more than 700 jobs.”
The agency is a state-owned company and a municipal entity of the City of Tshwane metropolitan municipality.
