Metro donates musical instruments to local arts group

The Tshwane metro donated two Casio keyboards to the Phelindaba Arts and Culture Forum to help them serve the community.

The Tshwane metro donated musical instruments to an arts group in Atteridgeville to help them to continue serving the community.

Peggy de Bruin, MMC for Social Development and Community Services, said helping the Phelindaba Arts and Culture Forum was important because it is aligned with the metro’s vision.

She said the forum is a non-profit organisation aimed at taking young people off the streets by helping them look for artistic ways to help themselves.

De Bruin said the instruments will help the forum expand its reach and help neighbouring communities.

“Considering the work and vision of the forum, the City has donated two Casio keyboards and two Johnson acoustic guitars,” she said.

“The donated musical instruments form part of my department’s programme to support and revive Tshwane’s arts and culture sector.”

The Phelindaba Arts and Culture Forum intends to work with young people who need support and guidance to change their lives for the better.

“I strongly believe that Tshwane has many talented young people who do not have the opportunity to express themselves. I intend to ensure that we offer some form of support to deserving arts groups and forums,” De Bruin said.
