Five nabbed for dealing in drugs in Winterveldt

The suspects were found packaging drugs at a residential property in Winterveldt.

Five people were arrested for the possession and dealing of drugs in Mabopane and Winterveldt on Thursday morning.

A 40-year-old man in Mabopane was arrested after he was found with a large scale of nyaope, according to police spokesperson Constable Martin Maphoso.

Maphoso said after the man was questioned, he directed the police to an address in Winterveldt.

“When police arrived at the address, three suspects aged between 39 and 44 were found packaging drugs,” he said.

“The suspects included two men and one woman.”

He said the suspects were arrested for the possession of nyaope, crystal meth, rock and other kinds of drugs.

The police were further directed to another location in Winterveldt where a 43-year-old woman was nabbed after she was found in possession of dagga.

Maphoso said the five suspects are in police custody and will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa magistrate’s court to face charges of possession of drugs and other illegal substances.

The station commander Colonel Molefe Makete welcomed the arrest and sent a strong message to the public to refrain from using and dealing in illegal substances.
