Moot social crime prevention unit launch new campaign regarding community safety
"Together, we can eradicate crime in Moot if we work together."
A Moot police social crime prevention team, together with various businesses, the metro police and correctional services, recently launched a campaign against crime, “against crime together”.
The team handed out pamphlets to motorists on Johan Heyns Drive in Gezina in the Moot with tips on being safe against crime.
Captain Anton Breedt of the Moot police said that they want to encourage the community to report any crime they might witness.
“Together, we can eradicate crime in Moot if we work together,” Breedt said.
Crimes such as cybercrimes, cross pavement robberies, motor vehicle theft, road rage, gender-based violence and sexual abuse were some of the crimes brought to the community’s attention.
Tyre-flipping record holder and local community radio station Hi 5 Stereo’s Chris Batts promoted the “against crime together” campaign through various interviews.
These included interviews with representatives from Tshwane metro police, correctional services, non-profit organisations and business representatives in the Moot policing area, which included private security Brinant, and Koala properties.
“The campaign ended with the acting Vispol commander Warrant Officer Lood Jonker telling the community at large about property-, vehicle- and infrastructure-related crimes.
“The campaign will be an ongoing project aimed at keeping informing our communities informed about crime in the Moot.”
Crime can be reported to Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or by SMS to 332211.
