PTA Central SAPS spend Mandela Day with the homeless

The homeless people were fed and gifted clothing.

The Pretoria Central police station took to the streets of the CBD to honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela on Monday.

The outreach was aimed at giving hope to homeless people, said police spokesperson Constable Nkhumise.

Nkhumise said officers interacted with various homeless people and showed them support.

“The purpose was not only to celebrate Mandela Day but to share different kinds of goodies with them,” he said.

“We took a walk around the streets of the CBD and handed clothing items to the homeless.”

He said hotdogs were also provided to the homeless.

A representative of the station’s management thanked the officers for their involvement in feeding the homeless and helping them with basic needs.

They said more programmes like this – helping the needy and bring about change – would continue to be implemented.

They urged residents to take action and make everyday a Mandela Day.
