Temba police spend Mandela day with poor family

Temba SAPS and partners revisited the family to offer donations of food and other essentials

The Temba police visited the family of the two-year-old boy reportedly killed by a rat bite last month on Mandela Day.

Partnered by the metro police, the CPF and the family violence, child protection and sexual offence unit (FCS), the Temba police dedicated their 67 minutes for Mandela to bringing joy to one of the poorest families in Ramotse Village on Monday.

The family needed the help of donations from Temba police and other donors, to lay their loved one to rest with dignity.

On Monday, the Temba police and partners again visited the family to donate food and other essentials ahead of the day’s celebrations at Selemela sports ground in Lephengville.

The local Gogo soccer teams also donated blankets to the family.

Station commander Brigadier Johannes Tau commended the police and partners for donating out of their own pockets to assist the family.

He urged the public to be considerate of the vulnerable and impoverished. Tau said he believed that initiatives such as these would “surely make a difference and regain the community’s trust”.
