Pay your municipal fees, says Tshwane metro

Issues that the programme addresses include meter readings, invoicing, payment arrangements, credit control and billing among others.

Tshwane residents should settle their municipal bills through the metro’s financial outreach programme.

“The programme is meant to solve any disputes, inquiries, or challenges that residents have,” said finance MMC Peter Sutton in a statement.

This was as the metro is cracking down on failure to pay municipal bills by engaging communities and addressing residents’ concerns.

Issues addressed by the programme include meter readings, invoicing, payment arrangements, credit control and billing among others.

His statement comes after a meeting held at the Atteridgeville community hall over the weekend in which Sutton addressed the need to pay outstanding municipal fees.

Representatives from Lotus Gardens, Atteridgeville, and the Saulsville Civic Association (Lasca) attended along with about a thousand residents.

“The principle always remains that residents must pay their municipal accounts. In an event that a service, for instance, electricity, is disputed the current consumption should be paid irrespective of the dispute,” he said.

The MMC hoped that this meeting will contribute to creating a culture of paying for services in Tshwane.
