All systems go – GDE online applications working after experiencing technical issues

The online applications were halted due to technical difficulties.

Despite a rocky start to the Gauteng department of education (GDE) online applications for 2023, all systems seem to be working well.

Applications for grades 1 and 8 learners opened this morning at 08:00.

The provincial government announced that the website was experiencing technical issues due to an overload of applications.

In a social media post, the department said the technical issues were a result of requests per minute reaching the maximum limit of 6 000 and was planning to increase capacity to 20 000 requests per minute.

Spokesperson Steve Mabona told Rekord that more than 47 000 people had registered on the system to apply already.
