Bishops Bird Park viewing deck open to the public

The deck will provide nature lovers an opportunity to observe and learn.

Bird enthusiasts and nature lovers alike will be delighted with the official reopening of the Friends of Bishop’s Bird Park Club’s viewing deck.

The development has been in the works for a long time, but efforts were severely hampered by lockdown regulations.

After the restrictions were lifted, the various parties involved and Friends of Bishop Park Club could get to work rebuilding the viewing deck.

Situated in the prestigious 16-hectare bird reservation, it took a large team of volunteers two days to completely refurbish the deck and open it to the public.

The project was not cheap but was made possible by various donations from local businesses and overseen by the Friends of Bishop Bird Park team.

The deck provides an elevated viewing position and allows visitors to view large parts of the bird park.

“Our main goal is to get members of the community to visit us,” said Friends of Bishop Bird Park chairperson Walter Moll.

“This is a family park and people want to come here with their families and friends and just relax and have a good time.”

The club takes a great interest in bird watching and conservation.

They regularly maintain and clean the park and operate 24/7.

CCTV cameras provided by the club also ensure visitors feel safe and protected during their visits.

“We would like to welcome all residents and families to enjoy the safe and natural environment of the park again.

Chairperson Walter Moll is very pleased with the end result.

“The Friends of Bishop Park team invites all residents to join our group to help complete our projects and assist in caring for the park,” said Moll.

In September, the group will host an open day where they and members of the community will plant trees in the park.

“We invite everybody to join us in this wonderful initiative.

“This park is such a beautiful and important place for our environment and we must all work together to keep it that way,” added Moll.

The deck is open from 09:00 to 15:00 every day.
